A short stroll up Mansfield Road from the city centre and you will find us in the beautiful old Cricket Pavilion building, in the heart of the Forest Recreation Ground Park.
Serving Locally roasted Coffee, Brunch, Lunch, Cakes & Shakes, we have a great large spacious outdoor terrace with and when the weather is on our side it is a gorgeous sun trap.
Inside we have two large seating areas filled with vintage furniture, cosy sofas, big armchairs and vintage board games in our lounge. Also if its mid-week and you fancy somewhere different to work, our lounge has lots of plug sockets & USB ports, with Free-Wi.
We are a child friendly with booster seats available and next to our terrace is the pirate park adventure playground.
Our cafe is super dog friendly, with a dog friendly seating area in the cafe, water bowls and treats for your four-legged friends.

The little White Lodge in the park is where the cake and picnic magic happens. . . . . . . .
We bake lots of delicious cakes in there for our cafe, online orders from our customers and wholesale orders for other cafes too.
Our Coffee Kiosk at the Lodge is a great pit-stop to grab a Coffee, Cake or Sausage Roll while on your working from home break, or to head out for your park walk.
The Lodge is also the collection point for all web-shop & Cake orders.

We are looking someone lovely with passion for cooking honest homemade delicious food to join our team at our busy independent café in Forest Recreation Ground Park.
Approx. 32-34 hrs per week, 4 or 5 shifts a week, including Saturdays & Sundays on rotation

(Shift Times may suit someone returning to work around school hours or studying, our kitchen usually operates between 9 and 3 on weekdays and weekends 8.30 – 3.30)
We are open Tuesday to Sunday, so must be flexible on days to work, weekends are our busiest time.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
*Managing & Leading the small kitchen team during shifts to ensure consistency in the meals leaving the kitchen
*You will be preparing our delicious popular brunch menu from fresh ingredients.
*Menu development & costing
*Stock Ordering and Minimising waste, working with our suppliers.
*Following our strict hygiene procedures keeping a clean and safe kitchen.
*You will work closely with both the Café Manager and Café Owner along with the front of house team.

SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
* A happy calm positive outlook, someone that thrives in a busy kitchen.
* Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate your kitchen team
* At least 2 years Commercial Kitchen Experience required & a genuine love of food, in particular brunch, is very important.
* An ability to be creative & inspiring with food ingredients with an eye for food styling.
* We are looking for someone who is comfortable working on larger scale catering as we have frequent large group bookings, busy pop-up events and additional outside catering jobs
* Must enjoy being organised, manage stock rotation, ordering and food safety
* Great customer service skills, we have an open kitchen, all team members engage with customers.
Your main place of work would be in our flagship cafe at the Forest Rec or our pop-up events.
Full Training will be given about all things Homemade.

We are looking for someone friendly, outgoing, enthusiastic and keen to learn the tricks of our trade. During this apprenticeship you will learn how to deliver good customer service, how to manage a table section, learn to serve and make a range of drinks. You will receive full barista training and experience working through busy events.
We have ran apprenticeships at Homemade for over a decade and many people have worked their way up in the business or gone on to do other amazing things after.

We have a new opportunity for a Bakery Apprentice in partnership with Derby College to learn on the job with our bakery team.
We are looking for someone friendly, outgoing, enthusiastic and a strong passion for baked goods to join our baking adventures.
During this apprenticeship you will learn how to make a variety of cakes/doughs, develop skills in volume cake production, skills in icing, learn about the importantce of packaging/allergens, Food Presentation skills, customer service and barista training in our coffee kiosk too.
this apprenticeship suits a good all rounder, someone who isn’t afraid of getting stuck in. To do this job, you must have an interest in bakery work as a career, as working in a bakery at our level is very different to baking cakes at home.

We are looking for an experienced & enthusiastic fabulous Café Manager to join the team.
This will be a full time position of approx. 30-35hr, across 4 or 5 days, depending on the time of year. (For the right candidate, this position could potentially work on reduced hours around childcare).
We open Tuesday to Sunday, and we work a fair rota system so you are not working both days every weekend.
This position however will require working at the weekends as this is our peak time, Sunday is our busiest day at both sites.
It is an exciting time at Homemade, as we have just recently taken on a second space with our beautiful vintage coffee van.
This position is based across both sites at the Forest Recreation Ground Park and Woodthorpe Park.
Experience in running busy shifts in a café or restaurant and managing a team simultaneously is essential for this job opportunity as is a level of business acumen.
Most importantly we are looking someone with drive and passion for what we do, who wants to get stuck in and get involved with the evolution of this new development for Homemade.
